Job Description

We are seeking motivated individuals to join us at Harlow or Chesterford Park on our Graduate Rotation Programme in 2021, which will provide you with the opportunity to experience multiple areas of drug discovery, as part of a team of experienced and enthusiastic scientists in a supportive environment.

The Graduate Rotation Programme

  • Your first year in a relevant department, based on your education, skills and experience.
  • Two six-month rotations in other departments aligned with your development goals.

The Benefit

You will:

  • Expand your skill set whilst gaining a broader understanding of the drug discovery process.
  • Build a great foundation for your future career at Charles River.
  • Work with colleagues who are passionate about our role in improving people’s quality of life and have contributed to the delivery of clinical candidates across a range of therapeutic areas, including oncology, respiratory, infectious diseases and neuroscience.

The Graduate Rotation Options

In Chemistry, you will prepare novel compounds using traditional and modern synthetic chemistry methods, whilst gaining experience of medicinal chemistry and aspects of computational chemistry. In Separation and Analytical Chemistry, you will specialize in the analytical techniques required to provide quality material suitable for biological testing.

In Biology, you will run, optimize and develop assays and learn how to present results. In Structural Biology you will deepen the understanding of the interactions a ligand makes with its biological target.

In DMPK, you will carry out in vitro assays or bioanalysis to assess the DMPK profile of client compounds and identify and recommend the compounds suitable for progression.

In Pharmaceutics, you will provide developability assessments such as crystallinity, chemical stability, solubility and formulation of novel molecules, to support the transition into pre-clinical development.

In Compound Management, you will be using state of the art technology to prepare plates for in-house screening or to deliver to clients for testing.

We’d love to hear from you if you are interested in a career in drug discovery, are predicted a 2:1 degree or higher in a relevant discipline and have practical laboratory experience gained from outside of your degree.

Please apply with a cover letter and a copy of your CV. Applications can be sent to [email protected] no later than 8th January. Successful candidates will be joining our organization in July/August 2021.

We look forward to hearing from you!
