Job Description

The successful candidate should be a specialist in Experimental Psychology or Human Factors with a proven track record in research. It is expected that they will have a PhD or equivalent. They will be contributing to an Innovate UK funded research project to investigate the efficacy of colour-coded anesthetic trays for reducing anesthesia errors. The individual will play a substantial role in the development and implementation of a multi-stage research project. This will include contributing ideas, liaising with stakeholders, developing research methodologies and techniques; and leading on data collection with mobile eye-tracking equipment and online experimental methodologies.

Duties will primarily focus on the day-to-day running of the project including engaging with stakeholders, recruiting participants, data collection, data management and analysis. The successful candidate will also play a central role in literature review, drafting ethics applications, task analysis, developing experimental materials (for online presentation) as well as the planning and creation of theatre simulation scenarios (for the eye-tracking phase).

They will further contribute as necessary to publications to be submitted to reputable outlets. It is anticipated that developing findings will be presented at suitable high-profile conferences. The role is based in the Human Sciences Research Centre at the University of Derby.
