Research Interest
I am researching the visual system, with an eye to understanding how we are all different in terms of the way that we represent the world. We are multi-sensory animals, but we tend to rely on vision where we can. In our language, we talk about the way that we "look" at things, our "perspective" and the way we "see" things. These are all visual metaphors, which is no mistake.
At a broad stroke, I am interested in vision in its relation to consciousness, and how there is more than meets the eye when it comes to vision and consciousness. My thinking about these problems intersects psychology and physics. I apply dynamical systems theory to my philosophy of these sciences.
Education History
I have a Masters of Research in Psychology from the University of Aberdeen and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from The University of Strathclyde. I am currently working towards a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from Bangor University.
